It’s one of the most magical times of the year in Midtown Ala Moana. The holiday season means twinkle lights glittering on every block and the sound of Christmas music drifting through the air. Whether you’re lacing up your skates for a quick twirl around the skating rink at Hawaii Convention Center or ending the year with a bang with one of the island’s largest fireworks displays… you can enjoy all that is merry and bright right here in Midtown. Here are a few of our favorite Midtown holiday activities.
Photos with Santa at Ala Moana Center. Grab the keiki and their wish lists and head down to Ala Moana Center to get their photos taken with Santa. From November 9 to December 24, Santa will be stationed at on Mall Level 2 in the Mauka Wing, right in front of Target.
Ice Skating at the Hawaii Convention Center. Although the weather outside isn’t frightful, you and your ohana can still work on fine tuning your triple lutz at the Hawaii Convention Center’s expansive indoor ice-skating rink. This year their Winter Wishes – A Holiday Festival takes place from November 29 to December 24 and features an 82-by-50-foot ice skating rink, photos with Santa, a Winter Wishes Christmas Tree Forest with decorating contest, musical entertainment, holiday craft workshops and much more!
Pick Up Thanksgiving Dinner at Ala Moana Hotel. This Thanksgiving leave the cooking to someone else! Roast away your stress by pre-ordering a delicious Thanksgiving feast from the Ala Moana Hotel. You can choose from two packages: a turkey meal (brined, herb-roasted turkey) and a prime rib package (brined, herb-roasted turkey and prime-rib with horseradish and au jus). Both packages come with classic Thanksgiving sides that have an ono local twist, such as Portugese sausage stuffing, glazed Okinawan sweet potatoes and edamame succotash. To top it all off, there’s pumpkin-cranberry bread pudding and sweet rolls for dessert. The deadline to reserve your feast is Friday, November 22.
End the Year with a Bang at Magic Island. Ring in the New Year by watching the beautiful fireworks show from Magic Island on New Year’s Eve. At 11:45pm, fireworks are set off from the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort Lagoon, making Ala Moana Beach Park one of the best spots to watch the display. Sink your toes in the sand and watch the sky light up as you say aloha to the new year.
