Leave Your Wallet at Home. Our Favorite FREE Activities to Enjoy in Midtown Ala Moana

March 11th, 2019

Who said everything comes with a price tag? Here in Midtown Ala Moana having fun doesn’t have to cost a thing. These are just a few of our favorite free activities that you can enjoy right here, in this happening neighborhood.

Spend the Day at Ala Moana Beach Park

From sunrise to sundown, Ala Moana Beach park is the perfect place to catch some sun and vitamin-sea. Grab the sunscreen, take a dive into the water, and spend a few hours sunbathing on the shore while you watch the keiki frolic in the shallow waters. Any day can be a beach day but if you hit the bay on a Friday afternoon, stick around Magic Island until after sunset for front row seats to the weekly 7:45 p.m. fireworks show launched from the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort.

Hang Out at Ala Moana Center

Spend a day at Ala Moana Center and take in everything the center has to offer including a full schedule of free events and activities. Start the morning off burning some energy with the keiki as they climb and explore the mall’s 20-foot play structure, located on level 3 of the mauka wing. Then make your way over to the heart of the mall for the daily hula show at 1 p.m. and watch adult and keiki hula performers grace Centerstage. For a full list of events visit Ala Moana Center’s website.

Get Fresh at the Farmers’ Market

Shop at the weekly neighborhood farmers’ market and get all your fresh farm-to-table produce and products without ever leaving Midtown Ala Moana. On Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. enjoy the Ala Moana Farmers’ Market located at Ala Moana Center, in the street level parking lot. While there take in the sounds of free live music as you shop for locally produce, fresh plants, baked goods, prepared foods, and more. And on Mondays, enjoy the sun, beach, and fresh produce at the Āina Moana People’s Open Market located at Ala Moana Regional Park from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
